FEDORA at the European Commission's Cultural Stakeholders Consultation
FEDORA's Activities
Last week in Brussels, our Director, Edilia Gänz had the honor of being invited by Commissioner Glenn Micallef to represent the FEDORA Platform at the Culture Compass stakeholder consultation hosted by the European Commission. It was an inspiring event with 54 key representatives from Europe's cultural and creative sectors coming together to shape the new Culture Compass for Europe.
Our participation in co-constructing a European strategy for and with culture is vital to us. We were thrilled to engage in forward-thinking discussions on several key topics:
Future-proofing EU cultural policy: Strengthening culture as a strategic priority for Europe.
Unlocking Europe’s cultural potential: Ensuring that the creative sectors receive the support they need to flourish.
Culture as a catalyst for change: Leveraging culture to create a broader societal and global impact.
We believe that innovation is at the heart of the cultural sector — from artistic talent to technical expertise and creative technologists. The cultural ecosystem must position itself as a laboratory for an inclusive, sustainable, and value-driven approach to innovation, guided by European values like cooperation, diversity, equity, artistic rights, and copyright.
Europe has a strong tradition of innovation, grounded in universities, research centers, and educational institutions. Now is the time to shape culture-driven innovation, one that encourages cooperation, experimentation, and open dialogue between cultural actors and innovation-driven companies.
We look forward to continuing this inspiring exchange of ideas, as it will play a crucial role in shaping a brighter and stronger cultural future for Europe!
